Diploma Supplement

This Diploma Supplement follows the model developed by the European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES. The purpose of the supplement is to provide sufficient independent data to improve the international transparency and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.). It is designed to provide the description of the nature, level, content and status of the studies that were pursued and successfully completed by the individual named on the original qualification to which this supplement is appended. It should be free from any value judgments, equivalence statements or suggestions about recognition. Information in all eight sections should be provided. *Four years of full-time study (7 830 academic hours of theoretical studying according to the Russian Federal State Educational Standard), 240 ECTS Credits.

**Five years of full-time study (8 800 academic hours of theoretical studying according to the Russian Federal State Educational Standard), 300 ECTS Credits.

***Two years of full-time study (4 068 academic hours of theoretical studying according to the Russian Federal State Educational Standard), 120 ECTS Credits.

In the Russian Federation the study workload is evaluated in Academic Hours (AH). One AH is 45 minutes. Workload of practical training, preparation and defense of Graduation Project is evaluated in weeks. One week of full-time study is 54 AH. One ECTS Credit is approximately equal to 36 AH of total workload.

4.2

Programme requirements

*In accordance with the State Educational Standard the Bachelor programme includes humanities, social economic courses, mathematical and natural science courses, general professional courses, at least four weeks of professional training, preparation and defense of final project and sitting for final state examination.

**In accordance with the State Educational Standard the Specialist programme includes humanities, social economic courses, mathematical and natural science courses, general professional courses, advanced professional and special courses, at least ten weeks of professional training, preparation and defense of project for diploma and sitting for final state examination.

***In accordance with the State Educational Standard the Master programme consists of two approximately equal components: the course component (including advanced professional and special courses) with the final state examination and the independent research component resulting in preparation of the thesis under the guidance of a supervisor and its defense.

Grading, scheme, grade distribution guidance

The national grades are based on a 2 to 5 scale. Where

excellent (-otlichno) stands for 5 out of 5;

good (-khorosho) stands for 4 out of 5;

satisfactory (-udovletvoritelno) stands for 3 out of 5;

fail (-neudovletvoritelno) stands for 2 out of 5.

The assessment can be also made in terms of:

passed ( - zachteno) or not passed ( - nezachteno).

The lowest passing grade is satisfactory () and passed (). Students are only permitted to enroll in the next year of study and to be awarded a Diploma if they have passing grades in each subject of the curriculum.

Additional information

State educational establishment of higher professional education Udmurt State University (UdSU) was founded in 1931 as Udmurt State Pedagogical Institute. In 1972 the Institute was granted the university status. The University was regularly accredited by State authorities, last accreditation is granted on August 01, 2003. UdSU is considered as one of the largest education and research centers of the region in both technological and humanitarian spheres. There are about 1 384 faculty members including 90 professors, 583 teachers with Ph.D. degree, over 25 thousand students and 239 postgraduates. Today Udmurt State University is one of the leading centers of higher education and research in the Udmurt Republic.

8. INFORMATION ON THE NATIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEM

Higher education system of RF is constituted of two parallel brunches:

-         one-cycle (monoleveled) training system of Diploma Specialist (5-7 years for different specialities);

-         two-cycle (two leveled) training system: Bachelor (min 4 years) and Master (min 2 years).

Higher professional education is based on the State Educational Standards determining requirements for structure and content of training.

Postgraduate education includes two levels of scientific degrees: Kandidat Nauk (3 years) considered equal to PH.D. and Doktor Nauk.
